MEQUE: With one horizontal white line:
My sister in law's mother sent me her 14 inches MEQUE television and the complaint was one horizontal white line. To confirm this, i plug the set and turned it on and I see it.
I unplug the set and open it by removing 7 screws. I flipped the the TV so that the PCB board is facing me.
Since it has one horizontal line, I already assumed that the power supply is working fine. So I go directly to the vertical section. This TV is using LA78040B vertical IC. According to the datasheet, pin 2 is the VCC supply. I traced back the supply and I see that it get its supply from the secondary circuit not from the flyback. So I took my DMM meter and measured the voltage of the VCC supply and I got 24 volts DC and shows that the supply is OK. By the way, I clipped my black probe with a crocodile clip to the CRT ground and the red probe to the VCC supply. I scanned around the vertical circuit and everything looks fine. So I directly replaced the vertical IC and after that I plugged it to the oultlet and turned it on.
I've said a big YESSS! When the set gets back to normal operation...

Repairing a Tweeter
Repairing a tweeter is very easy as long as the winding is okay. I tested the winding with my analog multimeter and is okay. Only soldering the broken connection is required.
I bought a tweeter horned before and the salesgirl told me that this tweeter is disposable and if it gets busted, there's no way you can repair it. Once it gets busted, I told to my self. What if I'm going to dig inside it since it is mine and it is useless. This tweeter is tightly sealed with glue and it is a little bit hard to open. So I used a knife to pry it. Do you know what I see inside? It's just the same problem like I posted above. Broken connection. So I said to myself, as long as you can go inside and see what is wrong still you can repair it.
Thanks, I hope you like this post.

HOMEMADE AUDIO VIDEO RCA FROM SCRAPS
Hello there...I am here to share to you how I made my homemade audio video RCA jack connector from scrap. In our house, we have two DVD players in which one has a USB port and the other none or simply using DVD disc. I kept on switching the RCA connector from the other player and vice versa if I will use either USB flash drive or DVD disc. I said to myself, what if I will make an RCA connector so I won't keep on changing the RCA cable back and forth.
What I did is I look for a plastic enclosure, six way RCA jack, three way RCA jack and some screws.
I measured and made a hole on both sides of the plastic.
I used a round file to trim the edge of the hole to fit it into the plastic box.
I inserted the RCA jack and put some screws on it.
I cut off the wire of the three way RCA jack and soldered it to the six way RCA jack. Be sure to connect from ground to ground of the RCA. Just like the picture below.
The newly built RCA jack connector.
This is now ready to use and I hope you can make yours also. See Next post...

Laptop Shuts Down during OS Installation. Lenovo3000 G410
Hello everyone. I am going to share to you on how to cope up a laptop that will shutdown during installation. It is bothersome to install the operating system to a laptop where you are about in the middle of the installation or you are about to finish the installation and then it shut down. You turn on the laptop and start the installation again from the beginning.
Idea? During the setup process, the PROCESSOR is the most used or works hard during the installation. Since it is mostly used and works hard, it generates more heat. The installation takes up about one and a half hour or two depending on the laptop speed. During this length of time, the generation of heat is increasing even though the processor fan is spinning to cool down the heat. When the heat reaches the highest temperature, the system detects it and force the system to shutdown to protect the whole unit for damage. We call this as thermal shutdown.
I have encountered this problem three time already.
What I did?
I open the back cover of the laptop in which the processor is located. See picture below.
Some laptops processor is located underneath the keyboard, so you have to remove it without disconnecting the ribbon cable and exposed the processor.
Now I positioned the laptop in vertical position. Just like the picture below.
Now I placed a small usb fan and pointing to the processor to cool it down during installation. See picture below.
You can use any kind of fan. Electric fan is better.
After setting this up, you can now start the installation and I am sure you can finished installing your operating system.
I hope this post is helpful to you and good luck.

HOW TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP SP3
Installing Windows XP is easy if you read and follow instructions during installation. But to make it more easier we need guidance and visual to totally understand it.
If it is your first time to install Windows XP, just follow this simple steps. Let us say you are installing on a desktop.
First, turn on your computer. While the computer is booting, tap the DEL button on your keyboard to go to the BIOS setup. I am using an IBM laptop as a sample as you can see on the picture below. Now go to the boot option by using the right arrow key and first boot your CD or DVD ROM drive. After first booting your CD or DVD ROM drive, exit and save changes.
I'm sorry if the picture is blurred because I am only using a cellphone.
Now your computer will restart. As your computer is rebooting, insert your Windows XP CD.
After booting it will display "Press any key to boot from CD ". You have to press any key within five seconds. See picture below.
Note: You only have to press any key once during the installation.
After pressing any key, a windows installation screen will appear. See picture below.
Now after the setup is finished copying files, a new window will appear stating three options. See picture below.
There are three options here.
1. To set up Windows XP on the selected item, press Enter.
2. To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C.
3. To delete the selected partition, press D.
Since this is your first time installation, the unpartitioned space should display as default. Now you should select option 2 to create a partition by pressing C.
After pressing C, the system will analyze your hard disk capacity.
Now this time you will select option 1 to install Windows XP by pressing Enter.
This time you are now going to format your hard disk. Select the options using the arrow key.
The system now will format your hard disk.
After the formatting is finished, the system will restart and a new screen will appear.
After sometime, a dialog box will appear. Type a name for it and click next.
Type a name here or just click next.
Now here adjust the time and date and the time zone using arrow keys and click next.
After this, the installation will continue. After the installation is finished, it will restart.
After booting up, a new screen will appear. Just click next.
This time choose the second option and click next.
Here just click SKIP.
Choose the second option and click next.
Type a name here and click next.
The name you typed here will appear when you open "My Computer".
After clicking next this window will appear.
Now you can start configuring the settings of your new installed Windows XP to whatever you like.
That's all for it right now. See you next post...
